Lasting protection and shine for years with our proven durable ceramic coating

What is a Ceramic coating?

In the past, if you wanted to give your car a shine-up and shield it from the elements, you'd typically opt for paste wax. But now, thanks to advancements in technology, we've got something far more effective: ceramic coatings.

These coatings are essentially a semi-permanent liquid layer that bonds to your vehicle's surface. They act as a protective barrier, absorbing things like rain, dirt, and snow to keep your paint looking fresh.

Think of it like this: wax is akin to setting up a tent in the woods - it does the job, but it's not the most durable option. Ceramic coating, on the other hand, is more like building a sturdy brick house in that forest. Both provide protection from the elements, but one is clearly more robust.

What a Ceramic Coating does 👍

👍 Provides long-lasting protection, typically lasting 2 to 6 years.

👍 Actually last for as long as it claims

👍 Requires only one application, unlike other protections that need reapplication every 3-6 months.

👍 Gives your vehicle a deep, glossy finish unmatched by wax or sealant.

👍 Offers outstanding hydrophobic properties, keeping your car cleaner and making it easier to wash.

👍 Can be applied to various surfaces like paint, glass, wheels and vinyl plastic.

What a Ceramic Coating doesn’t do 👎

👎 Shield your paint from absolutely everything

👎 Make your car scratch-proof

👎 Make your car dirt-proof. It will however make it harder for dirt to cling to the surface, but not impossible

👎 Safe-guard from rock chips

👎 Last forever if not maintained

Ceramic Coating Pricing & Methods

Though not essential, it is recommended that we get your car looking its absolute best before applying a coating.

This is done through a cut and polish system.

The vehicle's appearance will essentially be “locked in” by the coating for the next 2-5 years, making it worthwhile to invest in achieving its optimal look.

Coating only

All coatings applied by Dragonglass first go through a thorough decontamination system using our Wash and Clay Method.

This normally gets the car looking around 80-85% (depending on condition of exterior) as good as it can look as the claying process thoroughly removes all embedded contaminants from the paintwork.

This service takes somewhere between 2-4 hours depending on size of the vehicle.

This service comes with a complimentary Ceramic Hand Car Wash two weeks after the coating is applied.

Coating and single stage cut and polish

A “single stage cut and polish” is the most time and value efficient method of polishing a car.

This method involves doing the cut and polish method in one pass. Not all car paints may qualify for this service, so your detailer will advise you as to if it is appropriate for the vehicle. This method can normally bring out the final 85-90% of your car’s shine.

Even the most efficient polishing technique takes time to do a good job and so is reflected in the pricing. This service normally takes around 6-9 hours depending on the size of the vehicle.

Coating and two stage cut and polish

A “two stage cut and polish” is the best possible result you can expect from a cut and polish.

This method involves doing the cut and polish method in two passes. One for cutting out the major defects using an abrasive compound the same way toothpaste does and instead of a toothbrush we use different pads on our polisher. Then we polish out the micro marring and swirls created from the abrasive first pass, hence the phrase “cut and polish”. Certain car paints will need this service rather than the single stage if there is a large amount of swirls or scratches already in the paint. This service is normally conducted over 1-2 days, depending on availability of customer and detailer.

Ceramic Coating FAQs

Do you require access to power and water?

No, we are a fully equipped standalone mobile car detailing service that can detail your car anywhere, anytime.

Why are Ceramic Coatings so expensive?!

Ceramic Coatings use a technology far more durable than any wax or sealant. They also bring out a car’s shine more than majority of most waxes or sealants. When you are looking at costs in the $1000+ of dollars, the expense is simply labour as good polishing of a car takes time.

Durability, Looks and Convenience. Not having to reapply a sealant or wax every few months is a game changer to a lot of people and if you can afford it, the single stage ceramic coating is the highest value for money service we offer at Dragonglass.

The most expensive part of a car is its paintwork with resprays costing anywhere between $2000-10,000 and generally not being worth the trouble. Coatings, waxes and sealants prolong the life of your paint which means your car continues looking its best long into the years that you own it, and its resale value will be much higher than if you did nothing.

What makes a Ceramic Coat worth it?

Dragonglass uses Carpro Cquartz UK 3.0. This coating is known for two things: Being a two year coating, and for outperforming its two year guarantee with proper maintenance.

What coating will my car get?

Whether you choose to maintain your coating is completely voluntary. The two year guarantee is with minimal maintenance.
By employing proper washing techniques and utilizing coating toppers, your two-year coating can extend far beyond its initial lifespan.

So I have to “maintain” my coating now?

Following the application of the coating, it's crucial to refrain from exposing the vehicle to water for the initial 48 hours to allow for complete curing. Additionally, we recommend our customers to abstain from washing their vehicle for the first two weeks. As part of our service, the first maintenance wash after the ceramic coating application is completely free, allowing us to assess the coating's durability and performance.

When should I wash my car?

Will the coating protect my car from dirt?

Yes and no. The coating does the same things for your paint that a sealant or wax does just generally a little better. This means it will give your car a slick surface making it a little harder for dirt to stick, but eventually your car will still get dirty just like any other. The good news is it will be far easier to wash off than if you had nothing there and the amazing look will return after the wash.
